Dining out with kids? These restaurants with play areas are worth the trip.

If date nights aren’t quite the same as they used to be because it’s not just two of you anymore or you’re looking for a great place that the kids will be entertained while you catch up with friends or family, we hear you. Here are the best kept family friendly dining secrets in Penrith, all with play areas where the kids are guaranteed to have a ball.

Emu Sports Club  emu sports playground
The alfresco dining area at Emu Sports Club is a relaxing place for drinks and dinner with family and friends. Overlooking the 18th hole and the recently upgraded outdoor kids’ play area, it is the perfect place to enjoy the view of the picturesque backdrop of Leonay Golf Course and keep an eye on the kids.  Kids eat free Monday – Wednesday* (T’s and C’s apply, please check venue for details) and kids’ discos have returned and will be held on the last Sunday of every month (bookings required).

Yo Loco
For next level kids’ entertainment paired with authentic Mexican cuisine, Yo Loco is the place. While the adults enjoy a vast and flavoursome Mexican menu with all the favourites (we see you Margaritas!), the kids can literally “Yo Loco” with neon light ball pits, ninja warrior style activities, slides and more.

Clementines Café (Caddens)
A treasure for all in Caddens, Clementines Café is the place to go for breakfast or brunch. Boasting a menu to satisfy broad dietary needs and the fussiest of kids, plus a great children’s play area. Head to Clementine’s for a family outing, catch up with friends or play date.

Lollipops at Panthers
New to Penrith Panthers, Lollipops Penrith is now open! Children will have a great time sliding, spinning, dodging and crawling through multiple play areas. There is a café on site, and Lollipops also offers “drop and dine” where parents can enjoy the facilities of Panthers while the kids have a great time at Lollipops! Bookings essential.

The kids will love the impressive children’s play area adjacent to the dining area and the $10 kids’ menu which includes delights such as cheeseburger and chips, battered fish and chips, mac N cheese and more. And for the adults there’s live sports and music in the beer garden and delicious pub meals in the dining area. For those who enjoy a drink, O’Donoghues boasts 22 different beers on tap, and a range of cocktails.

Jamison Hotel Bistro
Not to be outdone in the family-friendly department is the Jamison Hotel Bistro. There’s plenty of fun for the kids here, including an indoor playground, colouring in station and, on Sundays, a jumping castle. Throw in an extensive kids menu featuring all the favourites for $11.00 including Spaghetti Bolognese, Chicken Nuggets and Schnitzel, The Jamo’ (as it’s affectionately known locally) is definitely one to visit.

Coffee Club at the Nepean River
If you’re after restaurant quality meals in a family-friendly setting, then head to The Coffee Club at the Nepean River. It’s conveniently located opposite Tench Reserve so it’s perfect for when you’ve finished the Great River Walk or have just docked after a cruise on the Nepean Belle. All kids’ meals are served with an activity pack and there’s a great playground to keep them busy while the adults finish eating. An added bonus, Babychinos are free – winning!

Daily Break (Glenmore Park) playground.jpg
If your kids like to spend more time exploring than actually eating, then Daily Break could be for you. While there are lots of good food options for kids, it’s the cool outdoor playground that will impress the most. The playground is fully fenced and has loads of climbing equipment, slippery slides, a sand pit and swing, and every Saturday there’s even a free jumping castle. A large number of outdoor tables means parents can keep an eye on the kids while enjoying their meals in peace. Tick, tick tick!

Cafe at Lewers
For little kids who need room to run around, then Cafe at Lewers is guaranteed to please. The cafe is set within the beautiful Penrith Regional Gallery with heritage gardens wrapping around the building and cafe, providing kids with plenty of opportunities to explore and discover. They have a cute kids’ menu that changes with the season. After eating, everyone can have a wander through the free art gallery.

The Peachy Bistro
Located within the Peachtree Hotel Penrith, the kids will love The Peachy Bistro and the outdoor play area with age appropriate sections so the little kids can have as much fun as the big ones. The Peachy Kids menu includes soft drinks and ice cream and features delicious items such as scotch fillet and pizza.
